Motorist sued over alleged negligence in Alorton vehicle collision

A Belleville man is suing a Collinsville woman over injuries he allegedly sustained in a vehicle collision in Alorton.

Kenneth E. Armstrong filed a complaint on Sept. 18 in St. Clair County Circuit Court against Cheryl L. Helfrick, alleging negligence.

On Sept. 19, 2013, the complaint states, Armstrong was driving eastbound on Highway 15 near Lakewood in Alorton, when Helfrick, also driving eastbound on Highway 15, failed to stop at a stop light and rear-ended Armstrong's vehicle.

The complaint alleges Helfrick was negligent in failing to obey a stop sign and failing to reduce speed.

As a result, Armstrong claims he sustained injuries to his back, leg and nerves, for which he has incurred medical expenses and has sustained pain and suffering, loss of enjoyment of life, loss of employment, loss of wages, loss of earning capacity and disability.

Armstrong seeks a judgment in excess of $50,000, plus costs of the suit. He is represented by Michael L. McGlynn of McGlynn & McGlynn in Belleville.
