Illinois driver sues motorist who allegedly caused crash on I-255

An Illinois man is suing a Neal Zobrist Inc. employee who allegedly caused an accident leading to his injuries.

Curtis M. Ahring filed a complaint on Aug. 10 in St. Clair County Circuit Court against Neal Zobrist Inc., of Highland, and Richard L. Simmons, of Edwardsville.

On Sept. 19, 2013, Simmons was driving in the far left lane, heading north on Interstate 255, while Ahring was driving in the middle lane. According to the lawsuit, Simmons, at the 23.4 milepost, crashed into the side of Ahring's vehicle.

The defendant is cited with negligence and carelessness for allegedly causing the crash and failing to keep a proper lookout, yield the right of way, drive in a single lane, and stop, brake or swerve to avoid the crash.

As a result, Ahring claims he suffered trauma to his right knee, pain and suffering, and medical expenses. The plaintiff seeks damages of more than $50,000, plus costs.

The plaintiff is represented by Bernard P. McDonnell of McDonnell and McDonnell of Clayton, Mo.

St. Clair County Circuit Court case number 15-L-448.
