Motorist sues farm business and driver following collision

An Illinois motorist is suing a Divernon farm's truck driver, alleging injuries from a rear-end accident.

Mark H. Robinson filed a lawsuit on Aug. 20 in St. Clair County Circuit Court against John Dowson Inc., doing business as Dowson Farms in Divernon, and Michael A. Lewis of Waverly, alleging negligence and carelessness.

According to the complaint, on March 2, Robinson was stopped in traffic in the northbound lanes of state Route 3, near Edgar Street in St. Clair County, when Lewis, driving a truck for the other defendant, crashed into the rear of his vehicle.

The suit said the defendants failed to keep a proper lookout, properly apply his brakes, drive at a safe speed and obey traffic laws. As a result, the lawsuit states, Robinson sustained neck and left shoulder injuries, pain and suffering, lost wages and medical expenses.

Robinson seeks damages of more than $100,000, plus costs. He is represented by attorney Thomas E. Schwartz of Holloran Schwartz and Gaertner in St. Louis.

St. Clair County Circuit Court case number 15-L-471.
