Woman sues alleged negligent driver over injuries

A St. Clair County woman is suing another driver after she was allegedly injured in an accident.

Jessica Chittum filed a lawsuit on July 16 in the St. Clair Circuit Court against Lee Dong, citing negligence.

On Aug. 26, 2013, Chittum claims she was driving a vehicle north on Interstate 55/70 near milepost 4.4 in St. Clair County. According to the complaint, the defendant was operating a vehicle traveling north on the same road when he allegedly failed to operate his vehicle with reasonable care and collided with Chittum's vehicle.

Dong is cited with failure to stop or swerve to avoid a collision, driving at a greater than reasonable speed, failure to equip the vehicle with adequate brakes and driving without keeping a proper lookout.

The plaintiff claims she suffered severe and permanent injuries, both externally and internally, and great pain and anguish, both in mind and body.

The plaintiff seeks an amount in excess of $50,000 in damages together with costs of this action.

She is represented by Kenneth B. Beljanski and Trent S. West of Brown and Brown LLP of Fairview Heights.

St. Clair County Circuit Court case number 15-L-403.
