Woman sues driver who allegedly caused a collision

A St. Clair County woman is suing another driver for allegedly causing a collision.

Emily Layeski filed a lawsuit on July 16 in the St. Clair Circuit Court against Katherine Woolsey.

The suit claims that on Sept. 21, 2013, Layeski was driving a vehicle north on Scott Troy Road or near the intersection of Whispering Hills Drive in O'Fallon. Woolsey was operating a vehicle traveling north on the same road when she allegedly failed to operate her vehicle with reasonable care for the safety of other persons and their property.

The plaintiff accuses the defendant of driving her vehicle without enough control to be able to stop or swerve at signs of danger, failing to stop or swerve, driving at a speed that was too fast with regard to the traffic conditions and driving without adequate brakes.

The suit claims that this behavior caused the plaintiff to suffer severe and permanent injuries, both externally and internally and has suffered great pain and anguish, both in mind and body.

Layeski seeks more than $50,000 in damages together with costs of this action. She is represented by Kenneth B. Beljanski and Trent S. West of Brown and Brown in Fairview Heights.
