Man sues insurance firms, driver over alleged accident injuries

A man is suing two insurance companies and the driver who allegedly collided with him in Collinsville nearly two years ago.

Michael Bettis filed a complaint on June 30 in Madison County Circuit Court against Jessica Partney, Ace American Insurance Co. and Country Preferred Insurance Co. 

On Aug. 1, 2013, Bettis was driving a 2012 Chevrolet Sonic on Collinsville Road near St. Louis Road in Collinsville, while Partney was operating her 2004 Toyota Camry. According tot he lawsuit, Partney struck Bettis's vehicle, causing him injuries, disability, disfigurement, pain and suffering, medical expenses and loss of a normal life and income.

The defendant and the insurance companies are accused of disobeying a traffic light and failing to use ordinary care, yield the right of way, be mindful of Bettis's safety, maintain a single lane, change lanes safely, keep a proper lookout and use the wrong lane.

The plaintiff seeks damages in excess of more than $50,000, plus attorneys' fees and court costs. 

The plaintiff is represented by Kevin Boyne PC in Belleville.
