A couple is suing the driver who rear-ended their vehicle in Alton in 2014.
Dennis and Deidra Moore filed a complaint on June 25 in Madison County Circuit Court against Mark Ferguson.
According to the filing, on Jan. 13, 2014, Dennis Moore was operating his 2006 Chevrolet Malibu north on U.S. 67 at state Route 143 in Alton, with Ferguson driving his 2011 Nissan Maxima directly behind Moore, when Ferguson allegedly rear-ended Moore. Deidra Moore was a passenger in Dennis Moore's Malibu.
The defendant is cited with carelessness and negligence for failing to keep a proper lookout, keep his vehicle under control, stop in time to avoid a crash, sound his horn, reduce speed to avoid a crash and drive his car with adequate brakes.
As a result, both plaintiffs suffered injuries -- both to their backs, necks, heads and other areas -- pain and suffering, medical expenses and loss of a normal life.
The plaintiffs seek damages of more than $100,000, plus court costs and attorneys' fees.
The plaintiffs are represented by attorney Michael P. Clisson in Alton.
