Man sues woman who allegedly rear-ended him at red light

A driver is suing the woman who allegedly rear-ended him at a red light.

James D. Fort filed a complaint on June 12 in St. Clair County Circuit Court against Mary Ellen Molnar, citing negligence.

On Oct. 17, 2014, Fort, of Caseyville, claims he stopped his 1991 Oshkosh at a traffic light at the 6400 block of Old Collinsville Road in O'Fallon, with Molnar in her 2009 Chrysler Sebring just behind him. At this time, Molnar allegedly rear-ended Fort, causing him temporary and permanent injuries, pain and suffering, loss of a normal life and medical expenses, the suit states.

The defendant is accused of negligence for failing to keep a proper lookout, exercise proper control, brake in time to avoid a crash, and drive at a safe speed.

The plaintiff seeks damages of more than $50,000, plus attorney's fees and court costs.

The plaintiff is represented by Lanny Darr of Alton.

St. Clair County Circuit Court case number 15-L-353.
