Driver crossed center line causing head-on collision, suit says

A woman has filed suit against the driver who she claims caused a head-on collision, causing her to suffer injuries.

Sarah Munoz claims she was driving east on Collinsville Road on Dec. 13, 2010, when defendant Mary Baugus, who was driving west on the same road, crossed the center line and struck Munoz’s vehicle.

Because of the collision, Munoz experienced pain and suffering, lost her enjoyment of life, lost wages and incurred medical costs, according to the complaint filed Dec. 3 in Madison County Circuit Court.

Munoz blames Baugus for causing the collision, saying she negligently failed to stay in her lane of travel, failed to drive in a safe manner, failed to avoid the collision, failed to keep a proper lookout, failed to obey traffic signals and failed to drive in a safe manner.

In her complaint, Munoz is seeking a judgment of more than $50,000, plus pre-judgment interest, attorney’s fees, costs and other relief the court deems just.

Benjamin J. Sansone of Sansone and Lauber in Clayton will be representing her.

Madison County Circuit Court case number: 12-L-1952.
