School bus driver sues over rear-end impact

A Belleville man is being sued for allegedly rear-ending a school bus.

Kimberly K. Niederer filed a lawsuit Nov. 14 in St. Clair County Circuit Court against Ryan T. Cannady.

According to the complaint, Niederer was driving a school bus in August 2011 and stopped at a railroad crossing on South 74th Street in Belleville. At that time, Cannady, driving a 2003 Mazda Tribute, allegedly crashed into the back of the bus as it waited at the train tracks. Niederer says she was hurt in the collision.

Niederer accuses Cannady of negligence and asks for more than $50,000 in damages for medical bills and court costs.

She is represented by attorney Keith Short of Wood River.
