A man has filed suit against the driver who he claims drove the wrong way on the interstate and crashed into his vehicle, killing his wife.
Lucas Williams claims he and his wife, Jessica Williams, were riding in a vehicle Jessica Williams was driving east on Interstate 64 in German Township on Nov. 17, 2010, when defendant Robert Wayne Cesares, who was driving west on the same road, crossed the median and struck their vehicle.
Because of the collision, Jessica Williams died while her husband suffered grief and sorrow and experienced great pain and anguish, according to the complaint filed Nov. 15 in St. Clair County Circuit Court.
Cesares negligently failed to keep his vehicle in the appropriate lane, crossed the median of a highway and drove in the wrong direction, the suit states.
Lucas Williams names Samantha Unsell as a defendant in the case because she is representative of the deceased Cesares’s estate, the complaint says.
In his complaint, Lucas Williams is seeking a judgment of more than $150,000, plus costs.
He will be represented by Gregory L. Shevlin of Cook, Ysursa, Bartholomew, Brauer and Shevlin in Belleville.
