BNR Cavern sued by man attacked by knife-wielding patron

A man has filed suit against the bar, which he claims served alcohol to a patron, who in turn attacked the man with a knife.

Jay Parker claims defendant BNR Cavern served alcohol to Lavonte Brownlee, who became intoxicated. Brownlee then attacked Parker with a knife, according to the complaint filed Nov. 29 in Madison County Circuit Court.

Because of the attack, Parker sustained severe bodily pain and suffering, lost his normal life, incurred medical costs and lost his earning capacity, the suit states.

“Lavonte Brownlee’s intoxication was at least one cause of the occurrence in question,” the complaint says.

In his complaint, Parker is seeking a judgment of more than $50,000, plus costs.

He will be represented by Thomas O. Falb of Williamson, Webster, Falb and Glisson.

Madison County Circuit Court case number: 12-L-1934.
