Driver blamed for failing to warn of impending approach

A woman allegedly sustained neck, back and shoulder injuries after a driver pulled in front of her in an intersection.

Christine Romero filed a lawsuit Nov. 26 in Madison County Circuit Court against Samuel A. Osborn.

In her complaint, Romero claims she drove west on Niedringhaus Avenue near 21st Street in Granite City on Nov. 29, 2010, when Osborn, who was driving on 21st Street, suddenly pulled onto Niedringhaus and struck Romero’s vehicle.

Because of the collision, Romero suffered pain and mental anguish, incurred medical costs, suffered emotional and psychological injuries and endured disabling and progressive injuries, according to the complaint.

Romero blames Osborn for causing the collision, saying he negligently drove too fast, failed to keep a proper lookout ahead, failed to warn of his impending approach and failed to yield the right-of-way to Romero’s vehicle.

In her complaint, Romero seeks a judgment of more than $50,000, plus costs and other relief the court deems just.

Michael P. Hickey of Brown and Crouppen in St. Louis will be representing her.

Madison County Circuit Court case number: 12-L-1923.
