Granite City rear-end accident causes injuries, suit says

A woman who sustained injuries during a rear-end collision seeks more than $50,000 from the driver who she claims struck her vehicle.

Ninette R. Miller filed a lawsuit Nov. 21 in Madison County Circuit Court against Breanna K. Reno.

In her complaint, Miller claims she drove a 2001 Ford Escape south in the left turn lane of 19th Street at its intersection with Niedringhaus Avenue in Granite City on Jan. 13, 2011. Suddenly, Reno, who was driving behind Miller, struck her vehicle, according to the complaint.

Because of the collision, Miller incurred medical costs, suffered great pain and mental anguish and has been unable to pursue her normal activities, the suit states.

Miller blames Reno for causing the collision, saying she negligently failed to keep a proper lookout, failed to keep her vehicle under proper control and failed to stop before striking the back of Miller’s vehicle.

In her complaint, Miller seeks a judgment of more than $50,000, plus costs.

John L. Bitzer of Bitzer Law Firm in Collinsville will be representing her.

Madison County Circuit Court case number: 12-L-1913.
