Man injured in fall from ladder sues

A Missouri man claims he suffered severe and permanent injuries to his lower leg after falling from a ladder.

Billy J. Tisdale filed a lawsuit Oct. 25 in St. Clair county Circuit Court against Earl Layman.

In his complaint, Tisdale alleges he visited Layman’s house to help him work on his gutters. As Tisdale climbed the ladder to begin working, Layman left the ladder unattended, according to the complaint.

“The ladder shifted from its placement and caused the plaintiff to fall to the ground,” the suit states.

In addition to his injuries, Tisdale incurred medical costs and lost wages, the complaint says.

He blames Layman for causing his injuries, saying he negligently failed to hold the ladder and failed to warn Tisdale he was leaving the ladder unsecured.

In his complaint, Tisdale seeks a judgment of more than $50,000, plus costs.

Keith Short of the Law Office of Keith Short in Wood River will be representing him.

St. Clair County Circuit Court case number: 12-L-575.
