A New Athens man is accused of running over a man's leg with a tractor.
Richard Reuss filed the lawsuit against Jim Torrens Oct. 12 in St. Clair County Circuit Court.
The alleged incident happened in November 2011, according to the complaint. Torrens was operating a tractor and attempting to move a sign. Reuss says he was helping Torrens when the defendant ran the tractor over his foot and leg.
Reuss accuses Torrens of negligence for allegedly failing to operate the tractor in a safe manner, failing to keep a careful lookout and for failing to warn Ruess the tractor would be moving in his direction. Reuss is asking to be paid more than $50,000 in damages for pain and suffering, medical care and court costs.
Attorney Matthew R. Chapman with Becker, Schroader & Chapman in Granite City is representing Reuss.
