Foot and ankle injuries claimed in Highland accident

A woman claims she sustained severe right foot and ankle injuries during a collision after a driver allegedly attempted to turn in front of her vehicle.

Breeann Hedger filed a lawsuit Oct. 24 in Madison County Circuit Court against Rozann Mersinger.

In her complaint, Hedger claims she drove a 2005 Ford F150 truck east on Highland Road at its intersection with Illinois Route 160 in Highland on Dec. 3, 2011, when Mersinger attempted to turn in front of Hedger and struck her vehicle.

Because of the collision, Hedger suffered right foot and ankle injuries, sustained great physical pain and was prevented from attending to her usual duties, according to the complaint. She also lost wages, endured a diminished earning capacity and incurred medical costs, the suit states.

Mersinger negligently failed to come to a complete stop at the intersection, failed to keep her vehicle under proper control, failed to yield the right-of-way and turned into Hedger’s path, the complaint says.

Hedger seeks a judgment of more than $50,000, plus costs.

Ronald S. Motil of Beatty and Motil in Glen Carbon will be representing her.

Madison County Circuit Court case number: 12-L-1729.
