Asbestos removal company sued over driver's accident involvement

An employee of an asbestos removal company is being sued for allegedly rear-ending another car while driving in Alton.

Anthony J. Harvey Sr., Amber D. Sanders, individually and as mother and next friend of her minor son, filed a lawsuit Oct. 16 in Madison County Circuit Court against William R. Schrage and Midwest Asbestos Abatement Corporation, doing business as Midwest Service Group.

According to the petition, Harvey, Sanders and their son were driving east on Illinois Route 140 in November 2010. As they were stopped at the intersection of Illinois Route 111, Harvey and Sanders claim they were hit from behind by a Midwest Service Group bus driven by Schrage.

Schrage is accused of negligence. Harvey and Sanders, who was pregnant at the time of the crash, claim Schrage's employer is liable for injuries to them and their son as well as their unborn child. They ask for more than $300,000 in damages for medical expenses, loss of income and court costs.

Attorney Matthew J. Marlen, of Belleville, represents Harvey and Sanders.
