Collinsville accident is subject of suit

A woman has filed suit against the driver who she claims failed to obey a traffic control device and struck her vehicle.

Jennifer L. Lankford claims she was driving south on Bluff Road at its intersection with Interstate 55/70 in Collinsville on Sept. 18 when defendant Morgan B. Thompson, who was driving north on the same road, attempted to make a left-hand turn and struck Lankford’s vehicle.

Because of the collision, Lankford suffered head, neck, wrist and shoulder injuries; was made sick, sore, lame, disordered and disabled; and incurred medical costs, according to the complaint. She also suffered disability, lost wages and suffered an impaired earning capacity, the suit states.

Thompson negligently failed to keep a proper lookout, failed to properly apply the brakes of her vehicle, failed to yield the right-of-way to approaching traffic, drove too fast, made a left turn without giving proper warning, failed to yield the right-of-way to oncoming traffic and drove without adequate brakes, the complaint says.

In her complaint, Lankford is seeking a judgment of more than $50,000, plus costs.

She will be represented by John H. Hustava of Collinsville.

Madison County Circuit Court case number: 12-L-1640.
