A woman has filed suit against her insurance company, alleging it has failed to adequately compensate her for damages she sustained in a rear-end collision.
Carole Crum claims she had an insurance policy through The Hanover Insurance Group, which included a provision for umbrella coverage that was supposed to provide money for damages in case of an accident with an uninsured or under insured driver. At the time her policy was in effect, Crum got into a rear-end collision on Interstate 270 in Missouri on July 30, 2010, according to the complaint filed Oct. 19 in Madison County Circuit Court.
Because of the collision, Crum was severely injured, requiring her to undergo extensive diagnostic testing, therapy and surgery to her cervical spine, the suit states.
The driver who struck Crum had an insurance policy, but the limits of the policy were inadequate to sufficiently cover the damages Crum sustained, the complaint says.
In her complaint, Crum is seeking more than $50,000 from her insurance company, plus costs and other relief the court deems just.
She will be represented by David W. Dugan in East Alton.
