The insurance carrier for a St. Clair County family wants to be reimbursed after an uninsured driver allegedly crashed into the family's car.
State Farm Fire and Casualty Company, as subrogee of Jeffrey, Maura and Luke Leehy, filed a lawsuit Oct. 11 in St. Clair County Circuit Court against Richard L. and Florence Evans of Swansea.
Luke Leehy was driving a car, owned by Jeffrey and Maura Leehy, on Villa Drive in Belleville in October 2010, according to the complaint. Richard Evans, driving a car owned by Florence Evans, was driving the opposite direction, allegedly crossed the center line and crashed into Luke. The Leehys subsequently filed an uninsured motorist claim with their carrier, State Farm, which claims to have made payments for injuries and damage to the Leehy's vehicle.
State Farm accuses the defendants of negligence and seeks more than $300,000 in damages plus the costs of the lawsuit.
Attorney Jeffery A. Cain of Belleville represents State Farm. They ask for a jury trial.
