St. Elizabeth's, doctors named in med mal complaint

The family of a deceased woman says doctors at St. Elizabeth's Hospital in Belleville are to blame for her death.

Lee Lindemann, special administrator of the estate of Sue Ann Lindemann, filed a lawsuit Oct. 5 in St. Clair County Circuit Court against Dr. Charles Dumontier and Dr. Erick Falconer. Radiology Consultants of Mid-America PC, St. Elizabeth's Hospital of the Hospital Sisters of the Third Order of St. Francis and Midwest Emergency Department Services Inc. are also named as defendants.

Lee Lindemann says his wife was a patient of Drs. Dumontier and Falconer at St. Elizabeth's Hospital on Jan. 21. During the course of treatment, Lindemann alleges the doctors failed to evaluate and treat his wife's herniated bowel. He also claims they didn't transfer her after her condition became critical. Sue Ann Lindemann died the next day from her injuries, according to the complaint.

The widower accuses the doctors and staff at the hospital of negligence and medical malpractice. He asks for more than $250,000 in damages for medical bills and costs of the lawsuit.

Attorney Bruce N. Cook of Belleville represents Lindemann.
