A semi-truck driver is asking to be paid more than $220,000 after a head-on crash in Randolph County left him without a rig.
Keith M. Green filed a complaint against Randall J. Berthold, Sherwin Williams Paint Company and Sherwin Williams Paint Company Store #3249 on Sept. 7 in St. Clair County Circuit Court.
The alleged crash happened on Sept. 10, 2007 near on Route 154 in Red Bud. According to the complaint, Green was driving a tractor-trailer east on Route 154 near the intersection of Prairie Road. Berthold was allegedly driving a rental car in the opposite direction, crossed the center line and hit the semi-truck head-on.
Green says Berthold was working on behalf of Sherwin Williams Paint, specifically store #3249 in Wentzville, Mo., at the time of the crash.
The driver and his employers are accused of negligence for Berthold's alleged failure to keep the rental car under control, failure to drive in a safe manner and failure to avoid the head-on crash.
Green contends the collision caused him to lose a significant amount of property because the semi-truck he was driving was unable to be driven. He is asking to be awarded more than $225,000 in damages plus court costs.
