A man has filed suit against a bar that he claims allowed multiple pot holes to accumulate in its parking lot, causing him to sustain injuries.
Claude Reeves Jr. claims he was visiting defendant TT's Bar and Grill on Oct. 8, 2010. Numerous potholes cratered the bar's parking lot, according to the complaint filed Oct. 3 in Madison County Circuit Court.
Due to the pot holes, Reeves sustained severe injuries, suffered great pain and mental anguish, incurred medical costs and lost wages, the suit states.
In addition to TT's Bar and Grill, Reeves names its owners, Thomas Barczewski and Bob Douglas Sr., as defendants.
He blames the bar and its owners for contributing to his injuries, saying they negligently failed to exercise reasonable care to protect him, failed to properly warn patrons of the pot holes, failed to properly maintain the parking lot and failed to repair the pot holes, among other negligent acts.
In his three-count complaint, Reeves is seeking a judgment of more than $150,000, plus costs and attorney's fees.
He will be represented by Patrick G. Johnston and Benjamin T. Stephens of Johnston Law Offices in Edwardsville.
