O'Fallon children and parents sue bus company after being rear-ended in Central lot

Three students at an O'Fallon elementary school and their parents say they were hurt when they were rear-ended by a school bus in the school's parking lot.

Lisa Gish, Justin Jenkins and Lillian Jenkins, individually and on behalf of their minor children, filed a lawsuit against Illinois Central School Bus LLC Sept. 19 in St. Clair County Circuit Court.

According to the complaint, all three parents and their children were in their cars in the parking lot of Central Elementary School in April. At that time, the plaintiffs allege they were hit from behind by a school bus owned and operated by Illinois Central School Bus.
They claim they were hurt in the crash.

Gish and the Jenkins accuse the bus company of comparative negligence and ask for more than $300,000 in damages for medical expenses for themselves and their children plus the costs of the lawsuit.

They are represented by attorneys Thomas C. Rich and Kristina D. Cooksey of Fairview Heights.
