O'Fallon rear-end accident is subject of suit

A driver allegedly rear-ended on an O'Fallon road is suing the man he says caused the crash.

Ricky Casey filed a lawsuit against Charles Pierce on Sept. 21 in St. Clair County Circuit Court.

The alleged crash happened the afternoon of Sept. 25, 2010 on Greenmount Road in O'Fallon, according to the complaint. Casey says he was driving a 2006 Ford Fusion south of Greenmount Road. He says Pierce was driving directly behind him in a 2003 Honda Pilot.

Casey says he stopped at a red light at the intersection of Greenmount Road and Frank Scott Road. He claims Pierce failed to slow down and ran his Honda Pilot into the back of the Ford Fusion. Casey accuses Pierce of negligence for allegedly failing to keep a proper lookout, failing to control his vehicle and failing to keep a safe distance between his vehicle and others on the road.

Casey contends he was injured in the collision resulting in property loss, pain and suffering, medical expenses, loss of income, loss of employment opportunities and loss of normal life. He is asking to be awarded more than $75,000 in damages plus court costs.

Attorney Bradley P. Olson of Carterville is representing Casey.
