Two St. Clair County women say they were hurt when the car they were riding in was hit by another driver in East St. Louis.
Sharnique B. Coleman and Antoinette A. McCline filed a lawsuit Sept. 4 in St. Clair County Circuit Court against Tyerius D. Newble and Rachel A. White.
Coleman and McCline say, in June, they were passengers in a car being driven by White. The three were heading west on Missouri Avenue when White allegedly tried to turn left onto 15th Street in front of another car being driven east by Newble, the complaint reads.
Coleman and McCline accuse White of negligence for allegedly failing to yield to Newble who was driving in the opposite lane at the intersection. They also accuse Newble of negligence for failing to avoid crashing into White's car. The two women seek a judgement of more than $200,000 in damages for medical expenses and court costs.
