A Swansea man says he was fired from his job at a Madison County electrical company in retaliation of a workers' compensation claim.
Douglas Neumeyer filed a lawsuit Sept. 12 in Madison County Circuit Court against CMC Electric Inc.
Neumeyer worked for CMC Electric in July when he was hurt on the job, according to the complaint. Neumeyer says he subsequently filed a workers' compensation claim. He contends he was terminated from the company because he filed the claim.
Neumeyer accuses CMC Electric of violating Illinois Workers' Compensation Act for retaliatory discharge and wilful and wanton conduct. Neumeyer asks for more than $100,000 in damages for medical expenses, loss of income and court costs.
