A Wood River man has filed suit against the driver who he claims caused a multi-vehicle accident, causing him to sustain injuries to his neck, shoulders, spine, left hand and knees.
James L. Wilkinson claims he was driving a 1999 General Motors van east on Illinois Route 140 on Sept. 3 when defendant Ginger Stormer, who was driving behind him, struck the back of Wilkinson's vehicle. In turn, Wilkinson struck a 2001 Ford E-Series wagon, according to the complaint filed Aug. 30 in Madison County Circuit Court.
In addition to his injuries, Wilkinson incurred medical costs, lost wages, experienced extreme pain and suffering and endured disability and disfigurement, the suit states.
Wilkinson blames Stormer for causing the collision, saying she negligently drove too fast, failed to reduce her speed to avoid a collision, drove while distracted, failed to keep a proper lookout, failed to keep a safe distance between her vehicle and Wilkinson's and failed to brake or swerve to avoid a collision.
In his complaint, Wilkinson is seeking a judgment of more than $50,000, plus costs and other relief the court deems just.
Bradley M. Lakin and Robert W. Schmieder of SL Chapman in St. Louis will be representing him.
