Governor's Parkway accident causes head, brain and neck injuries, suit says

Leonard

A Madison County woman claims she sustained head, brain, neck and back injuries after a driver rear-ended her vehicle.

Elizabeth Sherwood filed a lawsuit Aug. 21 in Madison County Circuit Court against Brianna Seegers.

Sherwood claims she stopped at a traffic light at the intersection of Governor's Parkway and West Troy Road in Madison County on Jan. 31, 2011, when Seegers struck the back of her vehicle.

In addition to her injuries, Sherwood incurred medical costs of $17,252.70; experienced pain, suffering and disability; and lost her enjoyment of life, the suit states. She also lost wages, the complaint says.

Sherwood blames Seegers for causing the collision, saying she negligently drove too fast, failed to keep a proper lookout and allowed her vehicle to strike the rear of the vehicle in front of her.

Sherwood seeks a judgment of more than $50,000.

James P. Leonard of Devereaux, Stokes, Nolan, Fernandez and Leonard in St. Louis will be representing her.

Madison County Circuit Court case number: 12-L-1325.
