A Madison County woman says she was rear-ended by another driver while stopped at a red light in Madison.

Sheena M. Jones filed a lawsuit Aug. 15 against Mark K. Mitchell in Madison County Circuit Court.

Jones says in October 2011 she was heading south on Illinois Route 203 when she stopped in a left turn lane. As Jones waited for the traffic light to turn green, Mitchell, also driving south on Route 203, allegedly veered into the turn lane and crashed into the back of Jones' car. Jones claims she hit her head and chest on the steering wheel during the crash, causing significant injuries.

Jones accuses Mitchell of negligence and asks for more than $50,000 in damages to pay for medical expenses, loss of income and court costs.

She is represented by attorney Jack Carey of Belleville.
