A Madison County marine repair company is being sued by an employee who was was allegedly hurt on the job.
Joseph Dale Langston filed a lawsuit Aug. 17 in Madison County Circuit Court against National Maintenance & Repair Inc. and National Maintenance & Repair of Kentucky Inc.
In October 2011, Langston says he was working as a deckhand aboard two separate boats, the Bunker Beaver and Bulldog, that were owned by the defendants. Langston claims he was hurt while working and says poor conditions on the vessels and unsafe working conditions provided by National Maintenance & Repair were the cause of his injuries.
Langston accuses the defendants of violating the Jones Act, saying the companies' negligence led to his injuries. He says the National Maintenance & Repair companies are liable for his medical expenses and the cost of his recovery. Langston is asking for more than $150,000 in punitive and exemplary damages for medical costs, loss of income and court fees.
Attorneys Vuk S. Vujasinovic and Sean M. Cichowski of Houston and Allyson Romani of Glen Carbon represent Langston. They asks for a jury trial.
