I-55 driver seeks $50K in damages to compensate for accident

A man is suing the driver he says ran into his vehicle on a St. Clair County interstate.

Dwight Williams filed a lawsuit July 23 in St. Clair County Circuit Court against Jesse Robles.

The alleged crash happened Jan. 5 on I-55, according to the petition. Williams says he and Robles were both driving vehicles south on the interstate. He says Robles attempted to change lanes but "failed to see the vehicle being driven by the plaintiff." Williams says the two vehicles collided.

Williams contends he received serious injuries to his neck, back, head and body as a result of the impact. He says he has suffered physical pain and mental anguish as a result.

Williams accuses Robles of negligence for allegedly failing to yield properly to other vehicles, failing to keep his vehicle under control and failing to keep a proper lookout. He is asking for more than $50,000 in damages to compensate for pain and suffering, medical expenses and lost income.

Attorney Matthew A. Marison of Belleville represents Williams.
