A man has filed suit against the driver who he claims attempted a U-turn and struck his vehicle.
Christopher R. Oliea claims he drove on Illinois State Route 162 in Maryville on Aug. 30, 2010, when defendant Joseph W. Hittler attempted a U-turn and struck Oliea's vehicle.
Because of the collision, Oliea experienced disability and disfigurement, suffered great pain and mental anguish, lost earnings and incurred medical costs, according to the complaint filed Aug. 1 in Madison County Circuit Court. In addition, his future earning capacity has been impaired, the suit states.
Hittler negligently improperly used the road's lanes, failed to yield to Oliea's vehicle, drove in such a manner as to strike Oliea's vehicle and failed to keep a proper lookout, the complaint says.
In his complaint, Oliea is seeking a judgment of more than $50,000, plus costs and other relief the court deems just.
Gregory M. Tobin of Pratt and Tobin in East Alton will be representing him.
