Collinsville pedestrian says driver struck her on Sandridge Drive

Foster

A woman has filed suit against the driver who she claims struck her as she was walking down the street.

Tiffany Powless claims she was walking south on Sandridge Drive in Collinsville on Aug 5, 2010, when defendant Todd Nichols, who drove north on the same street, struck her.

Because of the incident, Powless experienced injuries, suffered pain and anguish, incurred medical costs and lost wages, according to the complaint filed July 27 in Madison County Circuit Court.

She blames Nichols for causing the accident, saying he negligently failed to keep a proper lookout, failed to keep his vehicle under proper control, failed to brake to avoid a collision, failed to stop or swerve to avoid a collision and failed to maintain a proper speed.

In her complaint, Powless is seeking a judgment of more than $50,000, plus costs and other relief the court deems just.

Ronald J. Foster Jr. of Schoen, Walton, Telken and Foster in East St. Louis will be representing her.

Madison County Circuit Court case number: 12-L-1162.
