A woman claims she suffered from disability and disfigurement after a driver struck her vehicle as she attempted to turn left.
Paige P. Lansaw filed a lawsuit Aug. 1 in Madison County Circuit Court against James L. Hartin.
Lansaw claims she drove on Horseshoe Lake Road and attempted to turn right onto Illinois State Route 157 in Collinsville on Dec. 10 when Hartin, who drove at the same intersection, struck her vehicle.
In addition to her disability and disfigurement, Lansaw suffered great pain and mental anguish, lost earnings, incurred medical costs and experienced a seriously diminished earning capacity, according to the complaint.
Lansaw blames Hartin for causing the collision, saying he negligently followed her vehicle too closely, drove in such a manner so as to strike Hartin's vehicle, failed to properly apply his brakes, failed to keep a proper lookout and failed to reduce his speed to avoid a collision.
In her complaint, Lansaw seeks a judgment of more than $50,000, plus costs and other relief the court deems just.
Gregory M. Tobin of Pratt and Tobin in East Alton will be representing her.
