Passenger accuses driver of being under influence as car lands upside down

A St. Clair County woman says the driver of the car she was riding in was impaired when he went off the road in Centreville.

Jill Turner filed a lawsuit against Eric Michael Turley July 16 in St. Clair County Circuit Court.

Turner says she was a passenger in a car being driven by Turley in April 2011. Driving north on Illinois Route 3, Turner says they left the highway at the I-255 junction. Turner alleges Turley was driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs and drove his car off the exit ramp.

She says the vehicle ended up upside down in a ditch. Turner claims she seriously injured several areas of her body, including her neck and back.

Turner accuses Turley of negligence and willful and wanton misconduct. She asks for more than $100,000 in damages for medical expenses and court fees.

Attorney Justin B. Mattea of Collinsville represents Turner.
