Mudge
Madison County Circuit Judge William Mudge on July 25 set a case management conference for Oct. 24 in a woman's case against Rosewood Care facility for allegedly causing serious injuries to her disabled daughter.
In an earlier order, Mudge also granted the plaintiff's request to conduct written discovery and take depositions of three defendants in the case - Michael Brady, Darrell Hoefling and Alton Real Estate Inc.
McGrew, as next friend of Therese Morrissey, filed the complaint last October against Brady, Hoefling, Claims Administration Services LLC and Midwest Administrative Services Inc., Larry Vandermaten, Alton Real Estate Inc. and Rosewood Care Center Holding Company Inc.
In October 2009, while in Rosewood's care, McGrew says Morrissey was severely injured when a nurse allegedly improperly inserted her feeding tube.
McGrew says the improper insertion of the feeding tube caused Morrissey to develop an infection that was not treated. She says her daughter was moved to the intensive care unit in a hospital because of the severity of the situation.
McGrew accuses all seven defendants of violating the Illinois Nursing Home Care Act for failing to provide care to her daughter, failing to monitor the patient and diagnose any medical problems.
She is seeking in excess of $50,000 in damages.
Elizabeth Parker of the Parker Law Firm in Godfrey announced her representation of McGrew on June 20.
Michael F. Bonamarte and Ryan Nolte of Levin & Perconti in Chicago also represents McGrew.
Dennis McCubbin, Christie Eckhardt and Rebecca Pinto of Claims Administration Services in St. Louis represent the defense.
