An Aviston man is suing a driver from Edwardsville who allegedly caused a rear-end crash.
Zachary Esplund filed a lawsuit July 5 in Madison County Circuit Court against Rickey E. Metzger.
The alleged crash happened Aug. 6, 2010 on Illinois Route 157, according to the complaint. Esplund says he was driving a 2006 Chevrolet HHR and traveling directly in front of of Metzger who was behind the wheel of a 1994 Ford Explorer.
Esplund says Metzger drove the Explorer into the back of the HHR, causing serious injuries to Esplund. He accuses Metzger of negligence for failing to slow down in order to avoid the collision, failing to keep a proper lookout and failing to keep the vehicle under control.
Esplund says he injured his back and neck in the crash and required extensive, ongoing medical care. He is asking to be awarded more than $50,000 to compensate for medical expenses, disability, loss of earnings, pain and suffering.
