Liberty Insurance Corporation claims it has lost more than $50,000 after a company failed to pay it the correct amount for workers' compensation coverage.
Liberty Insurance Corporation filed a lawsuit June 15 in St. Clair County Circuit Court against Francisca Solis doing business as C & S.
In its complaint, Liberty alleges it issued a workers' compensation insurance policy to Solis, which would run from April 1, 2010, to April 1, 2011.
In order to determine the accuracy of the premium it charged to C & S, Liberty performed an audit, according to the complaint. During the audit, Liberty determined that C & S owed more than it was paying, the suit states.
"After applying all credits, there remains due and owing to plaintiff from defendant the sum of $50,412, none of which has been paid despite demand therefore," the complaint says.
In addition to the money it says C & S owes it, Liberty seeks costs.
Baker and Miller of Chicago will be representing it.
