Outback Steakhouse sued over Swansea customer's pelvic injury

A Smithton woman is suing the owners of a Swansea steakhouse after allegedly falling and breaking her pelvis while dining there.

Deborah Thrasher filed the lawsuit May 25 in St. Clair County Circuit Court against Outback Steakhouse of Florida LLC.

Thrasher says the injuries happened during her visit to the Outback Steakhouse on North Illinois Street in Swansea on Oct. 29, 2011. She says she fell, "landing on her bottom with her right leg twisted under her." Thrasher says she broke her pelvis and injured several other parts of her body in the fall.

Thrasher contends Outback Steakhouse was negligent for failing to keep the floor clear of hazards and failing to warn customers of any dangers. She says the restaurant is liable for her medical care, pain and disability.

Thrasher is asking for $50,000 to $75,000 in damages. Attorney James R. Mendillo of Belleville is representing her.
