A Swansea motorcyclist is suing an Oakdale driver he says caused him to crash and seriously injure himself.

David Hart filed the lawsuit against Staci Lockhart on May 29 in St. Clair County Circuit Court.

Hart says he was riding his Harley motorcycle on West US-50 in December 2011. As he approached the intersection of US-50 and Castle Acres in O'Fallon, Hart says Lockhart "abruptly changed lanes" and drove directly into the path of the Harley and then quickly slowed down, causing him to crash.

Hart says he suffered a dislocated shoulder, fractured arm, shattered wrist along with more minor injuries to other areas of his body. He says Lockhart is to blame for those injuries. He accuses the driver of negligence for allegedly allowing her vehicle to travel into his lane, driving too fast and then slowing down suddenly in front of the motorcycle.

Hart is asking to be awarded more than $50,000 in actual damages for medical expenses and lost wages plus an unspecified amount in punitive damages.

Attorney Ryan L. Bruning with Page Law in St. Louis is representing Hart.
