Nameoki Road accident causes driver disability and disfigurement, suit says

A woman allegedly hurt in a Granite City crash is suing the driver she says is responsible.

Cynthia A. Melton filed the complaint June 8 in Madison County Circuit Court against Leesa M. Landert.

According to the lawsuit, the crash happened as Melton was driving south of Nameoki Road in Granite City on Feb. 29. Melton says Landert, who was also driving south on Nameoki Road, crashed into the back of her vehicle. She accuses Landert of negilgence for failing to avoide the collision.

Melton says she received serious injuries that "resulted in disability and disfigurement" along with ongoing pain and mental anguish. She is asking to be awarded more than $50,000 in damages for medical expenses and lost wages.

Attorney Gregory M. Tobin of East Alton is representing Melton.
