Collinsville Home Depot sued over customer's slip and fall

A St. Clair County woman is suing a Collinville Home Depot after allegedly slipping and falling there two years ago.

Mary H. McKinney filed the lawsuit June 11 in Madison County Circuit Court against Home Depot USA Inc., doing business as The Home Depot.

McKinney says she was at the Home Depot on Collinsville Crossing in July 2010 when she slipped and fell on a "watery or other slippery substance on the floor of the store." She contends the owner of the home improvement store was negligent for failing to keep the floor dry and failing to warn customers of the potential danger.

McKinney says the fall caused her to suffer internal and external injuries. As a result, she claims she has "suffered pain and anguish in both mind and body."

McKinney is asking for more than $50,000 in damages to compensate for medical expenses plus court costs.

Attorney Stephen R. Clark of Belleville is representing her.

Madison County Circuit Court Case No. 12-L-824.
