An Illinois woman has filed suit against the driver who she claims drove in the wrong lane, striking her vehicle.
Brandi Belt filed a lawsuit May 28 in St. Clair County Circuit Court against Theresa Johnson.
In her complaint, Belt alleges she drove north on Union Hill Road in St. Clair County on May 27, 2010, when Johnson, who drove south on the same road, collided with Belt's vehicle.
Because of the collision, Belt sustained severe injuries to her neck, head and back; endured nerve damages and whiplash; and sustained shoulder, neck and back pain, according to the complaint. She also experienced headaches and dizziness, experienced great pain and anguish, suffered from a disability, lost her normal life and incurred medical costs, the suit states.
Johnson negligently failed to yield the right-of-way, drove too fast, failed to exercise a high degree of care, failed to stop or swerve to avoid the collision and failed to warn of an impending collision, the complaint says.
In her complaint, Belt seeks a judgment of more than $50,000, plus costs and other relief the court deems just.
William P. Hogan of St. Louis will be representing her.
