Pedestrian says driver struck him in Alton parking lot

A man has filed suit against the driver who he claims struck him as he was attempting to walk across a parking lot.

Anthony Bosich claims he was walking in the parking lot of a strip mall on Homer Adams Parkway in Alton on Feb. 29, 2012, at about 2 p.m. when defendant Courtney Barnerd, who was driving in the same parking lot, struck his vehicle.

Because of the collision, Bosich sustained severe injuries to his head, neck, back and body; experienced pain and suffering; and incurred medical costs, according to the complaint filed May 31 in Madison County Circuit Court.

Barnerd negligently failed to reduce her speed to avoid a collision, failed to yield the right-of-way, failed to keep her vehicle under proper control and failed to keep a proper lookout, the suit states.

In his complaint, Bosich is seeking a judgment of more than $50,000, plus costs.

Joseph E. Hoefert of Alton will be representing him.

Madison County Circuit Court case number: 12-L-752.
