A Troy woman says her hip and leg were broken when she was hit by a another driver who allegedly ran a red light in Collinsville.

Sara Brinker filed a lawsuit May 18 against Michael C. McClintock in Madison County Circuit Court.

Brinker says she was stopped on the off-ramp of Interstate 55 and Illinois Route 157 in December 2011 waiting for a red light to change. At the same time, Brinker claims McClintock was driving south on Route 157. When the light turned green, Brinker says she drove into the intersection with the intention of turning left onto Route 157. She alleges McClintock failed to stop at the southbound red light and crashed into the driver's side of her car.

Brinker says the impact of the crash broke her pelvic bone and leg. She says the painful injuries have forced her to undergo extensive medical care.

Brinker accuses McClintock of negligence for allegedly causing the crash and asks for more than $50,000 in damages for medical bills and court fees.

Attorney G. Michael Stewart of Alton represents her.
