Highland intersection accident causes injuries, suit says

Stewart

A Madison County woman says she was hurt in a crash allegedly caused by a driver who failed to yield properly at an intersection in Highland.

Rina Hammer filed a lawsuit May 18 in Madison County Circuit Court against Jaime and Dale Lamm.

Hammer says the crash happened as she was driving west on 12th Street in December 2011. At the same time, Lamm, driving a car owned by her and Dale, was allegedly traveling south on Pestalozzi Street. Hammer contends there is a yield sign on Pestalozzi Street that gives the right of way to cars driving on 12th Street. Hammer alleges Lamm neglected to yield at the intersection and crashed into her.

Hammer says the crashed caused serious injuries to discs in her neck and back. She says the defendants are liable for the injuries. Hammer accuses the Lamms of negligence and asks for more than $100,000 in damages to compensate for medical bills and court costs.

Hammer is represented by attorney G. Michael Stewart of Alton.
