An insurance company has filed suit against the driver that it claims caused more than $60,000 in damage to the property of one of its insureds.
State Farm Fire and Casualty Company filed a lawsuit May 11 in Madison County Circuit Court against Johnny Hoskins.
In its complaint, State Farm alleges Hoskins drove a vehicle into its insured's home at 700 Third St. in Granite City, causing $64,070.86 worth of damages.
Because of the incident, State Farm has been forced to pay its insured for the damages, according to the complaint.
It blames Hoskins for causing the damages, saying he negligently failed to yield, improperly used his lane, failed to keep a proper lookout and failed to reduce his speed to avoid a collision, the suit states.
In addition to the money it says Hoskins owes it, State Farm seeks costs and other relief the court deems just.
Brad Pierce, Gregory J. Pals and Tammy F. Wool of Kramer and Frank in St. Louis will be representing it.
Madison County Circuit Court case number: 12-L-653.
