A man claims he sustained neck and back injuries after a driver failed to reduce her speed and rear-ended his vehicle.
Terry Gendron filed a lawsuit May 3 in St. Clair County Circuit Court against Erika Schutzenhofer.
In his complaint, Gendron claims he drove a 2005 Chevrolet van south on North Greenmount Road near the eastbound exit ramp of I-64 in Shiloh on June 5, 2010, when Schutzenhofer, who drove a 2005 Volkswagen behind him, struck the back of his vehicle.
In addition to his injuries, Gendron became sick, sore, lame, disordered and disabled; incurred medical costs; suffered disability; experienced pain and suffering; and lost wages, according to the complaint.
Gendron blames Schutzenhofer for causing the collision, saying she negligently failed to reduce her speed to avoid a collision, failed to keep a proper lookout, failed to keep her vehicle under proper control, failed to stop or swerve to avoid a collision and drove too fast.
In his complaint, Gendron seeks a judgment of more than $50,000, plus costs.
David C. Nelson of Nelson and Nelson in Belleville will be representing him.
